To get a PAN card, a person must have an identity card, address proof and date of birth proof. You will be given several options in these identity cards. You can choose someone for these proofs.
Apply online like this PAN card:
For this, first you need to visit the official website of TIN-NSDL. It has a PAN section under the Services option. Click on it. You can also go directly to the link https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html.
Here you will have to provide details of application type. Form 49A form will have to be filled for Indian citizens. Then select individual in the category.
After this, select Shri / Smt / Kumari and fill your name, date of birth, contact details etc.
After this, fill the CAPTCHA code and click on the Submit button. Your token number will be generated here.
Then you will be redirected to a page with three options which you will have to submit for PAN card.
You can also submit documents digitally using e-KYC and e-sign. Or you can also submit documents physically.
When you have selected the document submission process, fill all the details in the form. Keeping all the instructions in mind, tap the Next button.
In the next step, you have to provide your source of income. Also, the address and contact details have to be given.
In the next step, you have to select your Assessing Officer AO. You will get information related to it on this page. After filling all the details, tap on Next.
Information about all the documents you have submitted here like identity card, address proof and date of birth. Now you will also have to upload your photograph and sign. Then tap on the Submit button.
After submitting the application and after making payment you will get an OTP on Aadhaar linked phone. After entering it, print out the receipt which will have a 15-digit acknowledgment number. Sign this receipt and send it to the NSDL office via post or courier. This receipt application has to be sent within 15 days of submission.
note: After completing all the steps, you will get a physical copy of the PAN card within 15 days.
